Isn’t it romantic!

Puerto Vallarta-PV- Vallarta…If its not the incredible sunsets, the warm nights where music blows in the breeze, the cobbled streets or the smiles in peoples eyes, Puerto Vallarta will capture your heart in many other ways. In my case its been slow and steady. I came here on a whim really and have participated in various volunteer activities, dog minding and cat minding and  just living life in this lovely coastal resort town in the Bay of Banderas,  Mexico. This town is really quite special and I think I have been pretty lucky to have had the opportunity to live in different colonias over the 7 weeks I have been here.

From 5 de Deciembre, here in this hood there are more locals than tourists, its quiet, except for the guys that shout when they’re selling anything from fresh Bolillios (bread rolls), Agua  and Fish at your doorstep. It has a community feel and of course  there are those steep hills that lead up into the mountains that surround Vallarta and the Cemetery is located in this area too.

Amapas, close to the “Romanic Zone” or “Old Town” this colonia is where all the shops, bars, restaurants  and galleries are, the landscape is  filled with condos and small hotels nestled into the mountains, close to the ocean and to the Malecon. Its a hive of activity day and night, with a large LGBT community, always a variety of options to see and do.

Las Gaviotas is another colonia, a family-oriented neighborhood, big homes, wide streets, cobbled stones and when it rains, watch out coz you may need to swim the street just to get out, there is nowhere for the water to run off too! Its close to the Hotel Zone and to the bigger shopping malls and has its own local restaurants and cafes.

In PV there are gyms everywhere! The biggest gym is the ocean and the Malecon. Its great to see how active people are here, even in the heat. Oceans swimmers, runners and the great sports stadium they have here for anyone to train at, no charge! I have been living in paradise to be honest, and this paradise is made by the people within the community. I have met some great people, doing amazing work and no one has there head up their ass, just genuine people, yep they do exist! I have also made new friends, really special people that have made my time here so meaningful and I thank them for that. The whole experience for me, it just makes me smile and feel so blessed really.

Puerto Vallarta, PV,  the beaches wrap the coastline for days, birds sing until 930pm at night, the sun slips into the ocean in  a blaze of fire, families gather on the beach to enjoy the sunset show every evening and the people see you and smile and welcome you to their piece of paradise.
